Abstract Aim of the study is to investigate the effects of the 3-D online social environments on student success and motivation. 61 students participated and pretest-posttest experimental design was used. Then experimental groups presented their posters through the traditional and non-traditional virtual class environments in Second Life, and feedback was given through these environments by the instructor. However, control group presented posters in the lab and one to one feedback was given here. According to the feedback, they were asked to edit their assignments. At the end, improvement of the products was evaluated with a rubric, and found that there is no significant difference between the groups. A similar situation was also confirmed for the motivation of the groups.
