Abstract This study investigates the effects of the Internet use on the psycho-social development of primary students and its relation with grade level, gender and weekly duration and aim of the Internet use. The study is based on relational survey model and 135 primary students from a state school articipated. Problematic Internet use was measured by a scale consisting of 36 items about decreased impulse control, loneliness/depression, distraction and social comfort. According to the results of the study, the effects of the Internet use on the psycho-social development are related with grade level, gender and weekly duration and aim of the Internet use.
