Determining the Factors of Interest to Digital Games and Comparing Them with Properties of Educational Games.

Abstract
Aim of the study is to determine the factors of interest to Grand Theft Auto (GTA) game and compare them with properties of educational digital games. Students’ tendencies to the environment that is similar to the real world, the opportunity to choose gender of character and the elements from their culture were investigated. At the first part of the study survey design and at the second part post-test experimental design with control group was used. Participants were 181 undergraduate students for the first part and 57 undergraduate students for the second part. According to the results of the study, the environment that is similar to the real world, the opportunity to choose gender of character and the elements from their culture were significant factors on interest to digital games and most of the educational computer games don’t possess these properties.
