ERMS Practices in Organizations and Institutions: Marmara University Case.

Abstract
Terms of transformation, change and change management forming the basis of the information age has integrated with the development of technology and has also affected business processes in organizations and institutions. Nowadays, these changes have provided unlimited access to information and have also carried records management to digital world from creation of records to disposal operations in institutions. Electronic Records Management System (ERMS) that allows managing records by electronic media has a rather complex structure and includes processes that have many issues to be decided such as from design process to creation of information policy and from implementation of the legislation to archive management. Taking these decisions properly on the basis of institution’s policies will ensure not only sustainable and efficient electronic records management but also creating institutional electronic archive. In this study, system development life cycle, infrastructure, and compliance with standards and legislation processes of ERMS in Marmara University are presented.
