The Effects of Online and In-class Groupworks on Academic Achievement, Attitude and Willingness for Social Interaction.

Abstract
The aim of this study was to examine the effects of online and in-class groupworks on academic achievement, willingness for social interaction and attitude towards course. Pretest-posttest experimental design with control group was used. Participants were 48 undergraduate students taking programming course. 16 of the participants used online whiteboard environment while solving an algorithm problem and 12 of the participants used HeliosPaint environment in a computer lab. According to the results of the study, there were no significant differences between online and in-class groups in terms of academic achievement, willingness for social interaction and attitude scores. However, solutions to algorithm problem of online groups were better than the control groups.
